Goldspeed Riders Podium WORCS Rd 1

Las Vegas NV (1/29/14) Following their entry back into the US market last year, Goldspeed Racing Products is looking
to make a statement in 2014 and they certainly came out swinging at the opening round of WORCS racing in Taft California.
Goldspeed is supporting a handful of racers at both the amateur and professional level and saw great success throughout the weekend as a number of racers put both their tires and wheels on the podium.

After a challenging year of transitioning from a factory program to running his own privateer effort, Can-Am backed racer Dillon
Zimmerman ended 2013 with a second place finish and has carried that momentum over to 2014.

In the Pro ATV race, Zimmerman got a jump out of the gate and lead the pack about midway up the starting stretch, narrowly missing the holeshot. Racers would battle severely wet conditions for the first few laps as WORCS officials saturated the track making for poor visibility and difficult terrain. “I got really bad arm pump for the first few laps,” said Zimmerman. “I was riding behind Collins Webster and Beau managed to get by me but after the first few laps, the arm pump started to wear off and I was able to just ride my own race.”

Fast 5: Interview with Robbie Mitchell

076Robbie Mitchell has been a WORCS pro for quite some time. This year aboard his Honda he had a stellar start to the season, even under tough track conditions, but fell just shy of the podium later on. Robbie tells us about his season, what he learned, and gives a little bit of advice to the up-and-comers.

You had a great start to the season, but struggled in the middle, and then finished out strong. What happened? The first of the season was great! Then I had a race that I wasn’t mentally ready for. After that I just had small mechanical issues. At Taft my air box mount broke, Pala I ran strong but my wheel came loose at the end forcing me to limp the last 3 laps. Then I broke a chain at Glen Helen and bent a couple of sprockets at Honey Lake. It was really frustrating! But I learned a lot and everything will be better next year!

2014 WORCS Schedule announced

WORCS has released their 2014 schedule which has Straddleline back on the map. We hear that it will be a double points round to encourage riders to make the journey. Considering most of the races are too far for any but SoCal or Nevada riders to participate in the  whole season, it’s disappointing they don’t spread out the geography a little more to draw a wider base. Missing from this year is an Arizona track, but it’s neat to see that Sand Hollow is returning.  Hopefully that TBA is a new location WORCS hasn’t been to, or hasn’t been to in a long time. We’re happy to see Straddleline back on the map and looking forward to next year’s races. What do you think of the schedule for 2014?

For Immediate Release: GPS Offroad/JRi Shocks Racer Dillon Zimmerman Earns Season Best 2nd at WORCS Finale

Las Vegas Nevada 10/16/13 GPS Offroad/JRi Shocks/Can-Am factory racer Dillon Zimmerman has had a roller coaster of a year. Fielding his own effort in 2013, Zimmerman battled mechanical issues, equipment failure and more than a little bad luck. Early on, it seemed small malfunctions that have never been a problem in the past began to plague the JRi Shocks backed factory Can-Am racer.

WORCS_2013_Primm_Zimmerman_MedalFinally, round four in St George Utah provided a ray of sunlight as Zimmerman managed a podium finish on the brutal and extremely whooped out course. The team hoped their bad luck was behind them and it looked as though Zimmerman would score another podium finish at round five in Taft California but a torn heel-guard net nearly caused a crash and Zimmerman would have to limp to a six place finish.

That seemed to be the tone for much of Zimmerman’s season. Small mechanical failures that have never been an issue in the previous five years of racing suddenly started to surface.

Maxxis Riders Take Wins and Claim Championships at WORCS R9

Untitled-2

Press Release

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
From:  Maxxis International

Dept:   Marketing Department

Date:   10.15.2013
Re:       Haagsma Wins WORCS Round 9

The WORCS season finale ended on a high note for Maxxis. Team H&M/Maxxis rider David Haagsma took the Pro victory at the race and second place in points, while teammate Beau Baron officially won his third Pro championship, a title he had all but wrapped up weeks earlier. WORCS’ Round 9 was held October 12-13 in Primm, Nevada.

Despite a slow start, taking two kicks to crank his quad, Haagsma made quick passes during the first two laps and took the lead in the third, going on to win by a margin of almost two minutes. The victory was his second of the year. “Everything went great this season,” Haagsma told worcsracing.com. “I am trying to figure out next year. I kind of want to go back east and race motocross because that’s more of my thing. I enjoy off-road, but I enjoy motocross a lot more and that’s where I want to put my focus.”
