Rounds 1&2 of the 2016 Quadcross Northwest season are in the books! We had record entries for the opening weekend which is awesome news for the future of the sport in the Northwest and made for some awesome battles across the board all weekend. I’ve never really rode well at Horn Rapids and I came into the weekend really just hoping for a top 3 and to keep the bike in one piece. Saturday morning I got up early and headed for sign ups. After I paid my entry and membership fees I looked at the cash I had left on me and was like “Oh, I better go win some money back.” I duct taped my boots on and was ready to go.
September 12th and 13th at Washougal will be the series finale of Quadcross Northwest’s 2015 season. Come wearing green for suicide awareness. We will be honoring two of our fallen community members, Joe Green and …
Coming into the first round I was definitely nervous even though in October we went south to Texas and ran with faster guys I couldn’t help but feel I wasn’t as prepared as I wanted to be for the first round. With little riding in the off season due to weather conditions and long work hours it made it very difficult to prep myself for the opening weekend.
Another one of our regular contributors, Miranda Williams, has been crocheting up a storm, and preparing for her trek from Oregon to the East Coast as her son and boyfriend will be competing in the ATVMX nationals all this season. An adventure for sure! We talked Miranda into giving us an interview so we can introduce you to her. Check it out!

Las Vegas, Nevada 3/24/14 Goldspeed Racing Products returned to the top of the podium last weekend as reigning ATVA champion Chad Wienen secured his first win of the season. Wienen and the entire Wienen Motorsports race team have elected to compete aboard the Goldspeed aluminum race wheel for the second year in a row. 2 time champion Chad Wienen came out swinging, taking the fastest qualifier award as well as the moto one win ahead of a talented and hungry field of racers. In moto two, Wienen trailed John Natalie who ripped a holeshot and carried the lead for the entire race. Wienen’s 1-2 finishes were good enough to give him the overall and allow him to keep the coveted red plate going into round two. Fellow Wienen Motorsports/Goldspeed/FMF rider Thomas Brown managed a 5-5 finish to give him a top five spot for the weekend.
On the west coast, WORCS racers managed to overcome the brutal conditions of the Lake Havasu race course to earn multiple podiums at the third round of the World Offroad Championship Series. Despite a historically rough course, record attendance meant that racers would have to be on top of their game to survive the conditions as well as the competition.
The win didn’t come easily for Brown, who overcame a massive wreck to take third place in the first moto. Late in the first lap, he was thrown over his handlebars, and his bike rolled over him, but he was back in the race in matter of seconds.

Hamrick Went Wild at Wild Cat MX
This weekend at Wild Cat MX Tyler Hamrick had his best performance up to date. He qualified 12th fastest in the morning’s sessions setting him up with a fair gate pick. Tyler was able to get out of the holeshot and avoid a lot of carnage in 10th place. He quickly made his way into 9th were he would battle with Casey Martin the entire moto to the checkers. The 9th place in moto 1 was a career best for Tyler.
In the second moto another mid-pack start and barely avoiding another pileup, Tyler was able to stay clean. He moved up into the 8th spot a little over half way into the race and that’s where he would finish. Making a new career best 8th in a moto, and taking 9th overall on the day. The day’s wild events were good enough to put Hamrick into 10th place in points as well!
