Goldspeed Racers Earn Top Spots From Coast to Coast

WORCS_2014_Havasu_Donna-EllsworthLas Vegas, Nevada 3/24/14 Goldspeed Racing Products returned to the top of the podium last weekend as reigning ATVA champion Chad Wienen secured his first win of the season.  Wienen and the entire Wienen Motorsports race team have elected to compete aboard the Goldspeed aluminum race wheel for the second year in a row.  2 time champion Chad Wienen came out swinging, taking the fastest qualifier award as well as the moto one win ahead of a talented and hungry field of racers.  In moto two, Wienen trailed John Natalie who ripped a holeshot and carried the lead for the entire race.  Wienen’s 1-2 finishes were good enough to give him the overall and allow him to keep the coveted red plate going into round two.  Fellow Wienen Motorsports/Goldspeed/FMF rider Thomas Brown managed a 5-5 finish to give him a top five spot for the weekend.

On the west coast, WORCS racers managed to overcome the brutal conditions of the Lake Havasu race course to earn multiple podiums at the third round of the World Offroad Championship Series. Despite a historically rough course, record attendance meant that racers would have to be on top of their game to survive the conditions as well as the competition.

For Immediate Release: JRi Shocks Lake Havasu WORCS ATV & UTV Racing recap and VIDEO

WORCS_Havasu_2014_JRi-Shocks-_David_Flores-BeachMooresville NC 3/19/14 JRi Shocks ATV and UTV racers battled one of

the most challenging WORCS courses to date at the last round of the World

Offroad Championship series as record numbers of ATV, UTV and Motorcycle racers turned out for the final Lake Havasu WORCS race held at Crazy Horse Campground.   Over the years, the Havasu round has become a favorite among racers despite consistently being dubbed one of the harshest,

most abusive courses on the circuit.

JRi Shocks has entered 2014 with a fully fueled roster featuring five UTV Racers and two top ATV racers who will fly the JRi flag at each of the series 9 rounds.

Humboldt Motorsports, a three car team comprised of owners Roger Kirkpatrick, Travis Rasmussen and Pro UTV racer Dana Creech, approached JRi last winter with the intention of fielding a factory-like presence for each of the 9 WORCS rounds.  JRi Shocks jumped on board and despite limited time testing the new ECX 3 XP 1000 shocks, the racers have been nothing but pleased with its performance.

“All of the WORCS courses are known to be some of most roughest and most abusive courses on cars and equipment and we definitely found that out at the first round but the shocks can handle it” says Travis Rasmussen.  “I actually jumped the lagoon
jump twice in practice and everyone was coming up to me telling me how nice and level the car was flying and the landing was nice and smooth.”

Cinder Mountain Hare Scrambles race gets over 120 entries

Flagstaff, AZ (8/3/2013) – Saturday the Arizona Off Road Promotions series held a 100 mile hare scramble event in the pine trees of Flagstaff Arizona within the Cinder Mountain OHV area.  This unique riding area is located next to the Sunset Crater National Monument.  The sunset crater was formed 900 years ago by a large volcanic eruption.  The Cinders OHV area gets its name from the results of the eruption which are billions of tiny cinder rocks.  It is similar to riding on sand and the area is notorious for big whoops and tree roots.

The AZOP team laid out a unique 18.5 mile loop that consisted of many trails that have never been raced on before.  The first race of the day was the Mini and Pee wee bikes and quads.  Gunner Deatherage took the win in the 65cc Mini C class while Marcus Harris won the ATV 80cc class.

A speedy 7 questions with Karley Brown

When Karley Brown isn’t writing profound Facebook updates, working full time or attending school to be a speech pathologist (also full time), she’s on the track taking photos of riders on two and four wheels. Like other people we know, Karley uses photography to stay connected to a sport she loves. We got some inside info from her about her photos. Look for coverage from QuadX from Karley as well.

karley7How did you get involved in photography?
I use to ride, I had a $50 cheap digital camera from Walmart that I would bring with me riding and I would always take pictures of my friends with that camera. I always wanted a better camera but riding was expensive enough, I couldn’t afford photography too. Eventually I had to sell my bike and I hated that I wasn’t able to go to the track. I put other people before myself so I was never able to go to the track or do things that made me happy. On February 22nd, 2012 my family helped me buy a camera for my birthday. It was one of the happiest days of my life! [Laughs] Having a camera meant I could stay close to my favorite sport and my friends.

5 Questions with Matt Hancock

You started off the year pretty strong racing WORCS, but we haven’t heard much since then. What have you been doing and how has your year been going? My year did start off pretty good with some back to back wins and it has given me a 15 point lead in the Open A class with only 3 rounds left. The past two races I have had some little things not allow me to keep my results up to where I would like but I’m looking forward to Glen Helen to get my results back to where they should be. The competition in my class has started to get tougher as well with Grant Mitchell and Mike Sloan switching into the Open A, so I have really had to step up my game to continue being a contender.
