2014 WORCS Schedule announced

WORCS has released their 2014 schedule which has Straddleline back on the map. We hear that it will be a double points round to encourage riders to make the journey. Considering most of the races are too far for any but SoCal or Nevada riders to participate in the  whole season, it’s disappointing they don’t spread out the geography a little more to draw a wider base. Missing from this year is an Arizona track, but it’s neat to see that Sand Hollow is returning.  Hopefully that TBA is a new location WORCS hasn’t been to, or hasn’t been to in a long time. We’re happy to see Straddleline back on the map and looking forward to next year’s races. What do you think of the schedule for 2014?

For Immediate Release: GPS Offroad/JRi Shocks Racer Dillon Zimmerman Earns Season Best 2nd at WORCS Finale

Las Vegas Nevada 10/16/13 GPS Offroad/JRi Shocks/Can-Am factory racer Dillon Zimmerman has had a roller coaster of a year. Fielding his own effort in 2013, Zimmerman battled mechanical issues, equipment failure and more than a little bad luck. Early on, it seemed small malfunctions that have never been a problem in the past began to plague the JRi Shocks backed factory Can-Am racer.

WORCS_2013_Primm_Zimmerman_MedalFinally, round four in St George Utah provided a ray of sunlight as Zimmerman managed a podium finish on the brutal and extremely whooped out course. The team hoped their bad luck was behind them and it looked as though Zimmerman would score another podium finish at round five in Taft California but a torn heel-guard net nearly caused a crash and Zimmerman would have to limp to a six place finish.

That seemed to be the tone for much of Zimmerman’s season. Small mechanical failures that have never been an issue in the previous five years of racing suddenly started to surface.

Maxxis Riders Take Wins and Claim Championships at WORCS R9

Untitled-2

Press Release

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
From:  Maxxis International

Dept:   Marketing Department

Date:   10.15.2013
Re:       Haagsma Wins WORCS Round 9

The WORCS season finale ended on a high note for Maxxis. Team H&M/Maxxis rider David Haagsma took the Pro victory at the race and second place in points, while teammate Beau Baron officially won his third Pro championship, a title he had all but wrapped up weeks earlier. WORCS’ Round 9 was held October 12-13 in Primm, Nevada.

Despite a slow start, taking two kicks to crank his quad, Haagsma made quick passes during the first two laps and took the lead in the third, going on to win by a margin of almost two minutes. The victory was his second of the year. “Everything went great this season,” Haagsma told worcsracing.com. “I am trying to figure out next year. I kind of want to go back east and race motocross because that’s more of my thing. I enjoy off-road, but I enjoy motocross a lot more and that’s where I want to put my focus.”

WORCS ATV Round 7 – Brandon Lugan Race Report

Worcs ATV Round 7 – Brandon Lugan Race Report
Glen Helen Raceway – Devore, Ca
Round 7 was held and the ever so popular Glen Helen Raceway in Devore, Ca. This round would prove to test our stress levels as we were literally down the wire to get the quad running due to a full transmission fail at Round 6. One of the two cases I needed arrived just a few days prior to the event. My Motor builder Greg spent until late in the evening assembling the night before we headed to California and had no test run on the quad.

2012 Vegas to Reno e-book

After last year’s Vegas to Reno I hastily wrote out 20 or so posts detailing my perspective of the event. I have since done some clean-up and put it all together in a small e-book (complete with photos) for your reading pleasure in honor of the race this weekend. The table of contents even jumps you to the chapters.

Catching up with Dillon Zimmerman

Dillon has had some incredible luck this year. Bad luck. But he did manage to get on the podium at WORCS once so far and is determined to get back on the box before the end of the year. We’re just hoping that whatever curse is on him gets lifted so he can battle it out up top and liven up the competition. The best seasons of racing are when anyone can take the W. We caught up with Dillon and got the inside line on his season and what to expect from him.

I don’t know if we could ask you questions without touching on the rough year you’ve had. It seems like race after race you’ve just had terrible luck. What’s the deal? Yes, I’ve had terrible luck this year! I wish I knew what the deal was but all my problems I’ve had this year have been small tricky problems. For example, this last race in Pala we had a battery issue. The bike ran great Friday and Saturday until, of course, on Sunday for the main event. The battery lost charge on the first lap. It has been a really tough year for me. It’s frustrating because I know I have the speed and I have all these great sponsors, I just need to get this bad luck away from me!
