Can-Am DS450 Build from Troy Barker

Summary: This build has been my pride and joy in racing and could not be happier with how it turned out. My BCS Performance powered "shorty" race motor is wrapped around my custom billet aluminum frame rails. The slick Tiger Racing bomber hood matches perfect with my Solid Offroad Design graphics. I'm running the Goldspeed/GBC Motorsports wheel/tire combo again for the third year straight now and has proven success for me. I can't thank my dad enough for helping me with the long nights and all my sponsors for the support for this season. My first race of the year … Read more

Honda TRX450R Build from Ryan Waldo

Summary:

This bike was built for use in the Quad X Pro Class and WORCS Pro-Am and Production A classes. Nothing was left untouched and the attention to detail on the bike is crazy. My dad Bob Waldo put the most time in on the build and I cannot thank him enough for all that he does for my racing. The motor was left mild for the reliability needed in the hour and a half WORCS races and Rob Golden builds the best motor I have ever ridden hands down so I’d like to thank him as well. The components on this bike are courtesy of my awesome sponsors and are the best in the industry. Thank you to everyone involved and I can’t wait to get this thing dirty!

2015 Sponsors: Mom & Dad, Pit Traffic, Lonestar Racing, Maxxis Tires, Moose Racing, Golden Motorsports, Spider Graphix, Goldspeed, Sunstar, Just 1 Helmets, Elka Suspension, Powermadd, Maxima Oils, Uni, Fasst Co, AME Grips, Hinson, Dasa Racing, Fourwerx Carbon, EKS Brand Goggles, Galfer, Rynopower, IMS, Moto Hose, Atlas Brace, VGR

KTM 450 sx Build from Jesse Milbrath

Jesse Milbrath made the switch from Suzuki to KTM for last year and heads into 2015 on his mean orange machine. Jesse tells us a little bit about his ride here. Stay tuned for an interview with Jesse next week, where he tells us about his plans for 2015.

Summary: I built this bike strictly for motocross. The performance end of this bike is unreal, its a monster! I love everything about it! Most of the wrench turning is between my dad, brother, and me. Occasionally I will call other experts for help like Rich Moore or Casey Streepy.

Austin Rohr’s Garage Essentials – Favorites

Whether you are your own mechanic, or turn a wrench every now and then, I’ve compiled a list of things I find absolutely essential for every garage. I’m skipping the basics – sockets, allen wrenches, and so-on – and focusing on the kind of stuff that completely change the garage experience.

Clean Machine

Getting your ride all purrdy and getting new gear is part of what keeps you excited about racing during the off season, right? Everyone loves spicing their quad up with new parts, bad ass graphics, and trying on their state-of-the-art protective gear. Now, once you get it Facebook and Instagram worthy, you have to keep up appearances while at the track for your sponsors. Also, keeping your beast clean is better for maintenance. I am going to give you, in no particular order, 5 must haves to put in your race rig to keep you and your steed fresh.

Stating the obvious, you need a pressure washer. I recommend Landa. We have never had an issue with either of our gas or electric units. Personally, I find gas or diesel powered more convenient. You aren’t always going to be at a track or campground with power hook-ups. They also tend to have higher PSI. Electric pressure washers are more affordable, can be more compact, and still get the job done. There is always the option of asking around to borrow one. The quad community is usually pretty friendly (unless water is limitied). Know the track’s rules as some have specific wash stations or areas they don’t want you washing at. Find a Landa dealer near you at http://www.landa.com/

2014 Yamaha YFZ450R

Borrowed from Yamaha-Motor.com

Check out the release video! Assembled in the USA (Georgia) the new YFZR features some cool redesigned features and some ready-to-race components (including Maxxis tires right out of the box 21s and 20s). It comes in a standard Yamaha blue and white color scheme which looks pretty nice and a badass orange version!

Some highlights of the new Yamaha, besides the new color scheme, include a new slipper clutch;  titatium 5-valve cylinder, newly design exhaust, and new cam profiles; new ECU and diagnostic tool; redesigned ergonomics – though they look at lot similar; and several more features.

Honda has a new SxS

If a Rzr and a Rhino had a baby it would be the late-to-the-game Honda Pioneer 700. Red, dump bed, belt driven…perfect for hauling dirt and hay bales. For people who passed up Rhinos and Gators and Mules just waiting for something red that wasn’t Honda’s Big Red, which has been discontinued from the lineup, you are in luck.

Take a lap with Yamaha’s Dustin Nelson

QuadX released this video of Dustin Nelson at the opener at Glen Helen and it’s pretty cool. We usually don’t care for the GoPro mounted to the helmet look (it’s so small, get creative!) but this shows you how rough the track was for these guys. They’ve got to work hard for their entire moto. No slacking off here! Check it out, then check out the walk around of Dustin’s Yamaha. Pretty cool stuff! We wished our YFZR was that cool! Honda Hybrid Build from Zoe Kimball/Andy Yarrington

Summary: My daughter Zoe Kimball is the racer, I’m just the dad-mechanic. The quad is currently set up for flattrack/tt racing. This quad performs really well – we have to thank Frank Jahner of Jahner Racing Engines for all his work, and Crank Werks/Pro rods. The motor’s very fast. Set up wasn’t too hard. JB Mod chassis are one of the best out there, and it handles very very good. It can run with most 450s on the tracks around Washington. Also like to thank 911 Motorsports for their performance parts and help, also Enumclaw Powersports for their support. We … Read more
