Quad Mafia has organized a ride day for July 14th at Horn Rapids. Partially because The Family wants to get together and have fun with people who ride quads, and partially to show Horn Rapids that we’re not a bunch of hillbillies taking up the dirt bikers’ precious track time. With over 30 riders RSVP’d to come out, it should make an excellent event.
At the previous ride day, Mafia founder Jeff Bays organized a BBQ and raffle/giveaway and you can expect something similar for this day. Currently the Quad Mafia is trying to get an accurate count of riders. You can see the event details on Facebook, but if you don’t have a Facebook to RSVP you can email Jeff or another Mafia member (or us here at Pit Traffic) to get your name on the list.
Quads have had problems with HRMC and the staff for several years after it became privately managed. Claiming they are “quad-friendly” they have put requirements of 3 to 10 quads before allowing us at practice. They do have quad classes for their events, but without allowing us on practice days, who wants to support their series? It is good to see riders coming out of the woodwork for this one, and it would be nice to carry that momentum into some of the other events this year. Spectators be warned, it’s $6 on a practice day to be there…
